OBLS is proud to sponsor several youth-oriented programs directed at the next generation of  lifesaving. These programs emphasize and teach our mantras of physical fitness, maritime knowledge, lifeguarding techniques and overall physical and mental well-being.

COROLLA JUNIOR GUARDS

COROLLA JUNIOR GUARDS

The Corolla Lifesaving Association Junior Lifeguard program encourages ocean environment awareness and provides a venue for children to learn basic safety and become familiar with the natural aquatic environment.

Dates:

  • June 24 – June 27, 2019
  • July 1- July 4, 2019

The camp is open to boys and girls ages 8-15 years old (must be 8 by December 31st, 2019). Program fee is $190 per student per session.

This fee includes camp tuition and fees, daily lunch, water provided throughout the week, one rash guard (additional rash guards may be purchased-see registration form), CRP instruction (and certification if age eligible), and a one year USLA Junior Lifeguard membership.

KILL DEVIL HILLS JUNIOR GUARDS

Kill Devil Hills Ocean Rescue also sponsors a Junior Lifeguard Camp in coordination with Kitty Hawk Kayak & Surf School. This is a great opportunity for young people to find out what it takes to be a lifeguard in the Outer Banks, and start padding their resumes for a future job.

Dates:

  • June 17 – June 21, 2019
  • July 8 – July 12, 2019
  • July 15 – July 19, 2019
  • July 29 – August 2, 2019

All participants must possess basic ocean swimming skills and be comfortable in the ocean environment. Sessions will be limited to the first 12 participants per session. Program fee is #235.00 per applicant.

COROLLA S.E.A.L.S

COROLLA S.E.A.L.S

SEALS is a free two-hour ocean safety mini-camp for kids interested in learning about the ocean, first-aid, marine life, and physical fitness. Local ocean rescue lifeguard instructors will lead the kids in various activities including playing games, how to read the lifeguard’s advisory board, building their own rip-current, how to avoid potential hazards found on the beach and more.

SEALS is focused on children ages 6-13. Children outside the ages of 6-13 may participate at the discretion of the camp leader on that day.

The camp is held every Thursday beginning June 6, 2019 and ending August 1, 2019. Registration begins at 9:30 AM and the camp takes place from 10 AM to noon.
